The African Marketing Confederation's (AMC's) annual conference has opened pre-registration. The conference will be held between Wednesday, 20 and Friday, 22 August in Ghana's Labadi Beach Hotel.
"This year's AMC Conference will equip marketers with the insights and strategies they need to navigate, and have a competitive edge, in Africa's rapidly evolving business environment," says Helen McIntee, AMC President and Co-Founder.
Under the theme, 'Thriving in Africa's Evolving Markets: Trust, Trends and Technology,' the AMC Conferences builds on past topics by transitioning from being resilient during and post the COVID-19 pandemic that reshaped the world to thriving through creative reinvention and strategic renewal, says AMC.
McIntee explains that consumers, who have had more choices than ever before since the explosion of online and app-based shopping during COVID-19, are increasingly seeking to engage with brands that are authentic.
"As Africa's markets continue to evolve, marketers must navigate rapid digital transformation, shifting consumer behaviours and economic fluctuations. Maintaining brand trust is essential for long-term customer loyalty and business resilience," McIntree says.
Over three days, attendees from AMC marketing associations will be hosted by the Chartered Institute of Marketing, Ghana, in Accra, Ghana's capital city. AMC's Conference will be held alongside the annual Technology Information Confederation Africa (TICON Africa) Conference, says AMC.
According to AMC, guests from the following AMC member bodies are expected to be present:
- Kenya: Marketing Society of Kenya
- Botswana: The Marketing Association of Botswana
- Zambia: The Zambia Institute of Marketing
- Zimbabwe: Marketers Association of Zimbabwe
- Uganda: Uganda Marketers Society (UMS)
- Ghana: Chartered Institute of Marketing, Ghana
- Nigeria: National Institute of Marketing of Nigeria (NIMN)
- Ethiopia: Ethiopian Marketing Professional Association (EMPA)
- Mauritius: Institute of Marketing and Management, Mauritius

- Tunisia: Association Tunisienne des Professionnels du Marketing et de la communication
- Tanzania: Tanzania Marketing Science Association
- Angola: Angola Marketing Network
- Mozambique: Mozambican Marketing Association, and
- South Africa: IMM Institute, South Africa.
Included in the programme are talks covering aspects such as emerging market dynamics, cultural shifts and evolving consumer preferences. McIntee adds, "It is not just enough for marketing professionals to be aware of these changing dynamics as they seek to develop engaging campaigns. They also need to take advantage of new systems and processes that better enable brand success and increase engagement with consumers."
The MC is set to be Otumbo Vincent, a thought leader and impact entrepreneur, who is dedicated to empowering effective leaders, as well as a successful author. Delegates are set to hear about how to develop the best possible teams as they focus on successful marketing. Guests will also hear from luminaries in their fields, such as Kwabena Agyekum (CEO of the Chartered Institute of Marketing in Ghana), says AMC.
AMC says sponsorship slots are still available.
McIntee says, "Of course, no AMC conference would be complete without our Annual Gala Awards Dinner, which is a fitting end to the three-day event and will be held on the Friday."
AMC says awards will be presented in the following categories:
- Tourism and Destination Marketing Campaign of the Year
- Best Social Media Campaign of the Year
- Most Effective Campaign of the Year
- Best Use of Local Insights
- Best Cause-Related Campaign
- Campaign of the Year, and
- Brand of the Year.
AMC concludes that after hours, the 500 guests from 35 African countries can enjoy events like a cultural evening and a barbecue beach dinner at Labadi Beach. Also called La Pleasure Beach, it offers extensive seaside enjoyment.
